1f5f096faa mac80211: add rtl8xxxu 
OpenWrt is often used to develop or test new devices

New driver: rtl8xxxu (mac80211)
This is an alternate driver for a number of Realtek WiFi USB devices,
including RTL8723AU, RTL8188CU, RTL8188RU, RTL8191CU, and RTL8192CU.
It was written from scratch utilizing the Linux mac80211 stack.

After spending months cleaning up the vendor provided rtl8723au
driver, which comes with it's own 802.11 stack included, I decided to
rewrite this driver from the bottom up.

Many thanks to Johannes Berg for 802.11 insights and help and Larry
Finger for help with the vendor driver.

This driver is still under development, but has proven to be very
stable for me. It currently supports station mode only. It has support
for OFDM and CCK rates. It does lack certain features found in the
staging driver, such as power management, AMPDU, and 40MHz channel
support. In addition it does not support AD-HOC, AP, and monitor mode
support at this point.

The driver is known to work with the following devices:
Lenovo Yoga (rtl8723au)
TP-Link TL-WN823N (rtl8192cu)
Etekcity 6R (rtl8188cu)
Daffodil LAN03 (rtl8188cu)
Alfa AWUS036NHR (rtl8188ru)

0f84880a9d mac80211: iwlwifi: update firmware to ucode -16 version 
We don't use Kernel drivers but ucode -16 is
usable on Kernel 4.3+ - with backports and mac80211
this should work on older Kernel versions too.

Intel does not provide a changelog.

cb0c8da7c2 kernel: take bcm47xx_nvram.h from kernel and not backports 
compat-wireless/backports now contains a bcm47xx_nvram.h file to
backport some of the functions in it which are used by the bcmfmac
driver. This file just checks for the kernel versions and provide an
empty implementations on older kernel versions. This is OK on most
systems, but on bcm47xx / bcm53xx systems we want to call the real
functions here. This commit removes the file from backports in our
build process like we do it with the bcma and ssb header files. Instead
we add a recent version into our kernel so all code uses only one
header file. On bcm47xx / bcm53xx the real implementations of this code
will be used.

08f1e1b3ac mac80211: set mcast-rate for mesh point interfaces 
In order to set the multicast rate for mesh point interfaces the "mesh join"
was made explicit and moved to mac80211_setup_vif(), similar to how it is
done for IBSS interfaces.

Previously, the mesh join was made implicit in case authentication (i.e.
$key) was not used when creating the interface in mac80211_prepare_vif(),
while using authentication would create the interface first, then join
later in mac80211_setup_vif() by starting authsae.

7224c5d249 mac80211: fix crash when using mesh (11s) VIF together with another VIF 
llid_in_use needs to be limited to stations of the same VIF, otherwise it
will cause a NULL deref as the sta_info of non-mesh-VIFs don't have
sta->mesh set.

eff877ee8c mac80211: use wl18xx-fw-4.bin 
The driver only supports wl18xx-fw-4.bin and does not support the old
firmware wl18xx-fw-3.bin and more.

The wl18xx-conf.bin file was removed upstream it does not fit all
devices any more, see this on how to generate one:

If someone has a config file for the common platforms with the wifi nic
OpenWrt uses please send a patch.

ecfd245133 mac80211: disable ipw2x00 for big endian targets 
The ipw2x00 drivers assume that the system they are running is little
endian, and access everything in native byte order. When run on a big
endian system, everything breaks apart.

Since fixing this is non trivial on a first glance, disable them for
big endian targets.

ddfaee36ba ath9k: make DMA stop related messages debug-only (#11862, #9654) 
A long time ago, ath9k had issues during reset where the DMA engine
would stay active and could potentially corrupt memory.
To debug those issues, the driver would print warnings whenever they
occur.

Nowadays, these issues are gone and the primary cause of these messages
is if the MAC is stuck during reset or busy processing a long
transmission. This is fairly harmless, yet these messages continue to
worry users.

To reduce the number of bogus bug reports, turn these messages into
debug messages and count their occurence in the "reset" debugfs file.

Before starting hostapd we create interface for it. The problem is we
try to create STA interface just to let hostapd change it to AP later.

It may fail if device doesn't support STA interfaces or if we already
hit a limit. Consider following phy (it's from BCM43602 and brcmfmac):
$ iw phy phy0 info | tail
        valid interface combinations:
                 * #{ IBSS, managed } <= 1, #{ AP } <= 4, #{ P2P-client, P2P-GO } <= 1, #{ P2P-device } <= 1,

daaed6f251 netifd: fix start_disabled 'sh: bad number' in mac80211 setup (bug #19345) 
Two errors "netifd: radio0: sh: bad number" have recently surfaced in system
log in trunk when wifi interfaces come up. I tracked the errors to checking
numerical values of some config options without ensuring that the option has
any value.

The errors I see have apparently been introduced by r45051 (ieee80211r in
hostapd) and r45326 (start_disabled in mac80211). My patches fix two
instances of "bad number", but there may be a third one, as the original
report in bug 19345 pre-dates r45326 and already has two "bad number" errors
for radio0.

Subtarget legacy is supposed to support all ssb SoC except for BCM4705.
There are few BCM4703 devices with 802.11n supprt (WRT160N v1.0, v1.1).
Few BCM4704 devices with 802.11n: ASUS WL-500W, Linksys WRT150N v1.0 &
v1.1, Linksys WRT300N v1.0, Netgear WNDR3300 v1, WNR834B v1 & v2.

It seems we have to enable N-PHY for legacy as well to support above.
Unfortunately it increases root.squashfs size by 48 460 B.

3cc4fd7370 ath: relax regulatory rules for default regd code 
Most AP devices out there do not have a properly programmed regulatory
domain code, which means they are limited to US frequencies by default.

This has been a major annoyance for a long time now. Since no fix for
the manfuacturing process seems to be forthcoming, the only sane option
seems to be to allow users to change the country code in such cases.

a0cc6803c8 mac80211: Revert adding SM Power Save capability to hostapd configuration 
Part of rev 44173 added setting the SM Power Save capability in the hostapd.conf
file if the driver indicated that it was supported. It appears this was
incorrect, because the field in the actual HT Capabilities field in the AP
configuration is really a state indication. Just copying the state from the
capability resulted in the AP indicating that it had SMPS enabled all the time
if it supported SMPS. This effectively just disables all clients from sending
packets to the AP with more than one spatial stream, for no good reason.
So remove this part of the change.

b86545c86d mac80211: fix NULL pointer crash in monitor frame injection TX path 
This "patch to the patch" fixes a NULL pointer derefence crash in the new
intermediate software queues. The crash can be reproduced by injecting an
802.11 frame with a BSSID that does not belong to a configured vif. The
wperf tool (https://github.com/anyfi/wperf) may be convenient for doing
this.

Update the libertas driver to configure symlinks in sysfs.  This enables
the driver to be handled correctly by the mac80211/netifd/hostapd scripts.
With this patch, the wireless interface is functional on Guruplug Server Plus.

e0aaac8434 mac80211: fix fallback to macaddr 
If '/sys/class/ieee80211/phyN' is not a symlink, the call to readlink
produces either an empty path (if /sys/class/ieee80211/phyN/device doesn't
exist) or a path that begins with '/sys/class/ieee80211' (which does not
work with the subsequent line to strip '/sys/devices' from the beginning of
the path).  Modify the checks to detect these conditions, and fallback to
using the macaddr.

20940138ac scripts: fix wrong usage of '==' operator 
[base-files] shell-scripting: fix wrong usage of '==' operator

normally the '==' is used for invoking a regex parser and is a bashism.
all of the fixes just want to compare a string. the used busybox-ash
will silently "ignore" this mistake, but make it portable/clean at least.

this patch does not change the behavior/logic of the scripts.

This change introduces support for wildcard patterns in "option path"
of section "wifi-device".

Objective is to allow paths like "*/usb[0-9]/*/*" in order to claim
any usb device using the same backend type, regardless of its bus

f34cbdcf61 mac80211: Fix config variable name for dtim_period 
The vif option dtim_period was accidently renamed dtim_interval in r38988
("netifd: add wireless configuration support and port mac80211 to the new
framework"). This is wrong and makes the dtim_period/dtim_interval a dead
option because the rest of the config generation code still uses dtim_period.

867ba199f8 mac80211: fix disabling of 802.11n features 
r40682 ("mac80211: clean up ht capability handling, drop the use of the
ht_capab list, use individual variables instead") removed the ht_capab list and
replaced it with optional variables to disable features for a phy. But these
variables weren't added in drv_mac80211_init_device_config and thus didn't make
any difference when modifying /etc/config/wireless.

c9b99da7a5 ath: Add config option for DFS support 
This patch adds a config option to enable DFS in ath9k and ath10k
drivers (with ath10k you need the AP-branch firmware). I'm not entirely
sure about the regulatory compliance issues, though. As far as I
understand, enabling the DFS_CERTIFIED config options implies that the
device is certified for DFS. No doubt the original firmware has obtained
such a certification, but not with the open source drivers. I suppose
that as long as this is disabled in default builds (like ATH_USER_REGD)
everything should be fine, but it would be nice to have out-of-the-box
OpenWrt support for DFS. I'm also not sure whether the description of
the configuration option should say something about regulatory compliance.

3bc77db5f5 802.11s: fix authsae support in netifd 
This patch implements support for 802.11s protected mesh wireless networks (using authsae) in the netifd framework.

Until meshd-nl80211 implements a proper -P option for the PID file, this uses shell backgrounding in order to be able to get the PID for the process.

f5fce5e0da mac80211: skip antenna gain when compiling regdb.txt (#15397) 
The antenna gain attribute has been removed from the upstream regulatory database.
Incorperate patch from Luis R. Rodriguez to skip the parsing of the gain attribute
in genregdb.awk in order to emit proper rules again.

Also refresh fuzzy patches while we're at it.

c1a86f1ef2 ath10k: update firmware and allow choice between AP and STA firmwares 
This patch updates ath10k firmware to the latest version, changes the
default firmware to be the one optimized for access point operation, and
introduces a configuration option to choose the client-optimized
firmware instead during build time.

c1a2a87f3a netifd: fix mac80211.sh to respect setting of mcast_rate 
This patch fixes a bug in /lib/netifd/wireless/mac80211.sh, where
the UCI setting of wireless multicast traffic (in uci: mcast_rate)
is not respected within netifd. Especially in Freifunk mesh networks
the olsr routing as effected by this, as only the lowest mcast_rate
was used, even when uci ncast_rate was set to something else.
In function mac80211_setup_adhoc() the value of mcast_rate is missing
in json_get_vars.

8384c0dba0 ath9k: add workaround for AR9331 USB host controller hang with USB1.1 devices 
When wifi radio is reset, some bits in (undocumented) USB registers may
flip. Patch adds setting them after radio reset (channel change, up/down).
With this patch stability of USB1.1 full-speed devices, connected directly
to AR9331 host port (no USB2.0 hub) is improved.

82a2969100 ath10k: enable Atheros 802.11ac driver 
This enables usage of the ath10k driver on OpenWrt. Only 2.0 PCI hardware
is supported. The ath10k firmware is currently only available
through github so use that as its source for now.

This goes build tested, not run time tested.

9d4145efe5 kernel: fix DMA error when BCM4331 is connected to BCM4706 
The BCM4331 supports a PCIe max request size of 512 bytes and uses
that, but the PCIe controller in the BCM4706 just supports 128 Bytes
and that causes a DMA error for packages bigger than 126 bytes. This
fixes the problem by setting the BCM4331 also to 128 Bytes.

13f3c9dbe5 mac80211: b43: load b43 on core rev 17 and 18. 
This is now controlled by a module parameter and the default
configuration depends on brcmsmac being installed.
This patch causes b43 to take core rev 17 and 18 always by default.

299c2ceafa mac80211: tweak mac address allocation 
Apparently there are some broken devices out there that have the local
bit already set in the factory MAC address. Move the | 0x2 over to the
other side of the xor operation to fix this without affecting devices
with proper addresses.
